FOUR DAY PSYCHODRAMA WORKSHOP, MARCH 23rd - 26th 2012 Creating Community Caring for the earth, Caring for each other Nau mai Haere mai Workshop facilitator : Katerina Seligman Co-facilitator: Carol Parkinson-Jones In this workshop we will use the methods of psychodrama, sociodrama and meditation to explore ways to live joyfully and effectively while working to create a secure future for the natural world, future generations, and for ourselves. There will be the opportunity to deal with hurts and fears, past and present, which stand in our way to acting effectively with joyful spontaneity and creativity. We will discover the forces at play which block and enhance a sense of true community, and our ability to make a real difference in the world.. About the psychodrama method : Jacob Moreno, the founder of psychodrama believed that a truly therapeutic procedure must address not only the individual, but all of our relationships and the whole of society. His ambitious goal was that every therapeutic session should make a significant step towards world peace. Spontaneity is a foundation concept of the psychodrama method. It involves the ability to respond to people and situations with immediacy, vitality and thoughtfulness. It involves letting go of the old and moving into new ways of being. Spontaneity flourishes in an atmosphere of experimentation and playfulness, and enables us to bring forward our creative abilities, and to move into the unknown with courage and confidence. The venue, Mountain Valley Centre, in the Graham Valley near Motueka has a natural beauty which nurtures the spirit, and participants will have time to fill up on the wairua (spirit) of the native bush and pristine mountain river. Indoor accommodation will be marae style. You are welcome to bring a campervan or tent. T-pees will also be made available for those preferring to sleep outdoors. There are farm-stay batches and very good Bed and Breakfast facilities nearby for those wanting more luxurious accommodation. The workshop leaders: Katerina Seligman. TEP (ANZPA) M.Sc., Dip. Ed. Katerina was born in Czechoslovakia, grew up in Australia and has lived in Aotearoa for 36 years. She is a certified psychodramatist and psychodrama trainer and has worked with individuals and groups for many years. Katerina is a political activist, a lively grandmother, a student of Te Reo Maori, and has extensive experience in Buddhist meditation. She brings warmth, wisdom and a sense of fun to her work. Carol Parkinson-Jones. B.A. Anthropology, M.A. Social Work. Carol has been a counsellor for 21 years and is an advanced trainee in the psychodrama method. In 1990 she established Te Whare Mahana, a therapeutic community in Golden Bay which continues to thrive today. She has lived in an intentional community since 1976, with periods away from the community in the city for work and study. She is has a strong desire to nurture our planet and its people and to develop more sustainable personal living habits. Workshop Fee: $350. Participants will be bring their own breakfasts and will provide goodies for shared morning and afternoon teas. Lunch and dinner food will be provided but will not be catered. We will all chip in to create beautiful meals together...in line with our theme of “creating community” Times and Dates: 10 am Friday 23rd March to Monday 26th March 4pm. Kia ora folks, I've had a few queries lately asking whether I am planning to conduct my usual October 5-day residential psychodrama workshop this year. The answer is no, but a 4-day group in November instead, as outlined below. I'm expecting my first GREATgrand child in October so will be in Australia at that time. With warm wishes to you all, and hope to see some of you in November, Katerina FOUR DAY PSYCHODRAMA WORKSHOP, NOVEMBER 25th-29th 2011 Creating Community Caring for Papatuanuku and Ranginui Workshop facilitator : Katerina Seligman Co-facilitator: Carol Parkinson-Jones In this workshop we will use the methods of psychodrama, sociodrama and meditation to explore ways to live joyfully and effectively while working to create a secure future for ourselves, future generations, and the natural world. There will be the opportunity to deal with hurts and fears, past and present, which stand in our way to acting effectively with joyful spontaneity and creativity. We will discover the forces at play which block and enhance a sense of true community.
